A Home |
Romero House is first and foremost a home for refugees. We provide housing to refugee claimants from soon after they arrive in Canada until they have had their hearing at the Immigration and Refugee Board. We act as a bridge between the shelter and more long-term housing, supporting them in a difficult time in their lives.
- We have 4 houses, each within walking distance of the others
- each house is divided into living "units"
- each unit is family-sized, although some singles are accepted
- each unit has personal bedrooms, kitchen, and bathroom
- each house has a shared common room, phone line, and laundry facilities
- we have 1 wheelchair-accessible unit
- rent is subsidized by the City of Toronto
- stay of 1 year, until refugee hearing
- people of all faith groups welcome
